Let’s set up a classroom assignment by establishing game parameters. First you give students an objective, a goal. You give them the means for obtaining the goal, and finally you give them the direction to proceed in establishing research for creating context for the writing. In other words, they create their own genres for the writing. They write their own rules for writing.
Increased circulation creates shorter genres. Less time creates less time to create. Since writing cannot be predicted the best thing to do is create blank spaces, gaps, to be filled in, but in order to create these blank spaces filled spaces need to be created around the blank spaces (intermezzo). Ecological composition. Space. Place and time. Interconnectivity. Availability. Flow and movement of writing. Writing velocities. Circulation. Writing can never be an object of study. Scientific Method.
The problem with merging writing theory with ecocomposition is that space and place are objects of study. While they are words or signs in a sign based system, spaces and places are often described through scientific means: means that require an object of study. Writing has no object outside of text, and text is not writing. Texts are platforms from which writing occurs. I need to discuss the problem of definition, scientific method(object of study, text), and representation(writing production as critical to writing theory). Texts are the closest things that can be considered objects of study. However, thanks to the process movement they have proven to be problematic.
Writing as a concentrated act? Interconnectedness exists between two people when communicating, but the circulation is directed only between those two unless another person becomes available. Could I use the way light moves as a metaphor? Waves and particles? Bending and breaking?
